Great Spotted Woodpecker

Another taken in my garden recently. Not too sure about the composition here, but I am sure someone will tell me.

Many thanks for your comments and clicks on my previous uploads.

I have been laid up with flu the last few days, so I shall catch up with you all asap. Still sniffing and sneezing and can't spend much time on the computer yet..or out with the camera Sad Still, I guess I am in the fashion!

Thanks for viewing, and best large if you can.

Fran.

Nicely captured Fran, love the textures on that log.
ref the composition..I would have tried a crop from the left of the frame to just about where the branch meets the trunk as that bit of space seems wasted & the bird is turned the opposite way with eye contact on the camera...think she spotted you !
Not a typical 'Woody' pose..maybe it's that fact that is jarring you a touch ?

Nice to see a different pose Fran. The shot probably would benefit from a slightly closer crop on the left side. A super shot .
Hope you soon feel better.
Ron

A very unusual woody pose, lovely birds to see and great to photograph as they stay still for some time as they eat your hidden food.

nice shot maybe a tighter crop?

Well captured, very difficult subject.

I think this is a lovely pose Fran and I like the natural perch and DOF. The composition is not that far out, I think Chase's crop suggestion is sound with perhaps just a smidge off the right hand side too. I like the seductive 'over the shoulder' look here.

An excellent capture, and a refreshing pose : )

Thanks everyone for the suggestion of the crop. I did originally crop it to where Janet suggested, and was just as unsure about that too lol. I really do appreciate your help folks, I shall go back to the drawing board tomorrow and add the second crop as a V2 for you to view.

Regards,

Fran
