or....Woody and his/her teenager. I think I may lose a tree but I gained a picture or two. They sure seem to love this tree.
They certainly do love that tree judging by the amount of holes in it. They are doing a good job of consuming the wood boring insects though so maybe they are actually saving the tree.
Splendid capture! Patti
Poor old tree, at least they're enjoying themselves Sandy.
It is amazing the damage they are capable of inflicting on the poor tree but as you rightly say you get a great image. - gary
They've given the bark some really nice design there. The tree will disagree, that's for sure.
Good shot you came away with, though!
Something that I have never seen before, both male and female in situ. Great image so very well observed and captured.
A fine capture, Sandy. Carol
It is totally engrossed in it's work. Well spotted and presented.
Great with them both
How amazing to see both! Excellent capture!
That's a great picture!
Having a wooden house, which receives the same attention from these birds I do my best to scare them away. I am forever using wood filler to fill in the holes which sometimes have been as much as 2 inches in diameter. They make look nice but they are pests.
A fine capture of Mr & Mrs Woody, Sandy!
Doing what they do best pecking away Sandy !!
Ah, they're certainly keeping the tree aerated.
The tree must be bearing too many worms inside, Sandy. Lynne might be right.
Must get rather noisy?
