Thank you all for the response to yesterdays image of the red squirrel and for the welcome UA's

After photographing the squirrels on Tuesday afternoon I called in at Langley to catch a few of John and the horses. They were baling in the field and here we see John with his horse Sandy they are going round the field gathering the hay that the baler has missed...waste not want not..... Very hard work for the horses in this heat but john never over works them.

A heavy horse at work on the farm: truly an image from yester year but hopefully some may manage to keep these old traditional ways alive.

With a bit of sepia toning this could be a step back in time Danny. A very fine composition.

Yes Ann hopefully things will continue on this farm for a while. John is in his 80's and is beginning to suffer with aches and pains but his son in law David works on the farm and intends to keep the horses going and then there is David's son who is about 24. He loves the horses and spends his time both working on the farm at busy times and the rest of the time at Hexham Mart. One of te problems is finding implements to work with.

I have already done a book with a number of images in and of course gave a copy to John.Another copy sits in the local pub from where I get quite a few orders for prints.
