The dry stane dykes and the old farmhouse sit well below the clamped down clouds hugging the hills. Landscapes are not just for he sunny days, well done Danny.

Just shows there are wonderful pictures to be found in the Lake District even when the weather is grotty.

One of the more remote areas in the lake District which we try to visit whenever in the area. The little church contains a memorial window to HMS Glorious, a aircraft carrier which was attacked and destroyed in the early years of the second war in Norwegian waters.

The Lake District gets more than it's fair share of rain and judging by the sky here more is on the way.
A fine composition under low light giving softening of all the colours.
The poor sheep looks a bit lonely though.
Ronnie.

This shot was taken from the field immediately outside the church.

The solitary cow carries on munching, she's experienced worse weather. I like her presence. (I like the rest of the image too...)

Martindale is the little-known gem of the area, according to John Denman (I'm sure you remember him). So of course I have never been there. But you're tempting me, Danny . . .
This is a really lovely composition.

Oops, Bill has pointed out that I have mistaken a sheep for a cow. You would never make that mistake...
Profound and profuse apologies.

Heavy and oppressive weather adds to the feel of this vista, Danny. As Dougie so correctly said, landscapes are not just sun and blue skies with white fluffy clouds.

There's a reason it's so green and has so many lovely water features! A lovely scene with the farmhouse settled into it for the long haul.
