A high-key pheasant...
He appears to be suffering from cold feet.
Moira
Your descriptive sentence is perfect, as is the photograph.
A white dinner plate of roast potatoes, sprouts and parsnips is another pleasing backdrop for pheasant. Though Moira says you have to pluck the pheasant first.
Bill
White snow field make a great background for this colourful bird
Regards Brian
Reminds me of the Famous Grouse advert, wait for the phone to ring Danny I think you maybe needed .....good capture well captured.
John
Tried pheasant once. Why would anyone want to eat rotting game!!
Nicely composed and captured on the white blanket, Danny.
Dave
The plain backdrop will further confuse this bird who dithers and runs back while crossing the road. The snow will have him casting feathers in profusion.

The pleasant pheasant stands out well against the snow
Great shot Dan, think I would have had the surround in white as well.
David
You are right - the snow is a perfect back-drop, and the cast shadow under him sets him nicely in place.
Hopefully he will bring his girlfriend for a visit when spring comes.
