Beautiful softness to the image. Great colour and DOF.You're correct, it's a male Common Blue.

I'm not normally atracted to insect shots but I was drawn by the beautiful colour of the butterfly against the bright yellow of the flower. No idea what it is but very well captured - lovely detail too.

You're really getting away from the distracting background as described in comments on your previous posts. I like this shot very much. The time spent at Fairburn was worth it after all! Gary

Dan, the background is so complimentary on this shot! It's always a great combination when they land on something yellow also!

It looks like the levels were not adjusted though, did you just upload this straight from the camera? You could make it look much more eye-catching if you up the contrast a little.

Excellent shot!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments and thanks Tim and Ade for the constructive criticism.

This is as from the camera, I'd did have a play with levels but in the end decided the pastel effect was nicest. Personal taste I suppose, wouldn't do for us all to be the same.

Personally I like the muted colours of this Dan, the butterfly itself is "strong" enough, so I agree with you, it's fine just as it isSmile Cracking good shot!
