thanks for comments, but these steps would be classed as fairly safe compared to some of the steps and alleys you encounter in many of the hill villages of France and Italy. This is Bussana Vecchio near San Remo in Italy and about 140 years ago was abandoned after an earthquake which badly damaged it and other villages. About 20 years ago artists started to live here and it is slowly being renovated and attracting tourists. As with many isolated villages throughout Provence and Italy it is full of character and extremely photogenic.
