Hi Folks,
I'm sorry I haven't been around much lately, it's a busy time on the farm and I also have various other projects on the go. I have managed to get out with my camera on the few fine days we have had recently but, to be honest, the sort of pictures I've been taking don't seem to get looked at on here so I have been seeking opinions elsewhere. Whilst I am as guilty as the next person for uploading over processed seascapes, these days I find I get no satisfaction from that and would rather be judged on my skills as a photographer than as a computer operator. I am not knocking anybody else who enjoys using processing software to 'enhance' their landscape work, there are some excellent images of that sort regularly posted on this site. However, I am striving for something more and looking at the awards galleries on here has made me realise what a narrow view there is of what makes a good landscape image.
OK, rant over, this one was taken back in November from Potter's Nab on Farndale Moor looking south(ish) down Farndale. I have made some Curve adjustments and slightly sharpened it but, other than that, it is, as they say, straight out of the camera. With a view and light like this, nothing more was required.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening.
Dave

I have to say I agree wholeheartedly with your "rant" Dave. This image just goes to show that if you're skilled at photography and lucky enough to get the "right light" you certainly don't need the software. Your images always inspire me to carry on plugging away, continually striving to improve my skills. I suppose you can't please everybody all of the time and there will always be shots that we as owners of the image treasure but somehow don't get the recognition we feel they deserve but, hey, what does that matter ? We know that they're good shots and it's just lack of good judgement and often ignorance that results in poor feedback as regards votes/comments. I often feel it's down to the number of "friends" that some members have on here that counts rather than an honest & truthful recognition of ones talent !!!
Keep at it Dave,I for one am truly admiring of your stunningly beautiful work. And that's from a purely photographic point of view.
All the best,
Jane
I was looking for inspiration and thought of you, Dave. This is a real stunner - I love it! Hope your well!
