snail by colin beeley

snail

Like the whole idea about this shot, the angles of the wood, spirals of the snail, colours etc - the placing of the snail I suggest is a bit too central top to bottom ... place it slightly higher and it becomes more dramatic ?

(not too sure about the shrivelled ...what ???? ....... )

Ham by ronp

Ham

It's an original idea, colors are good, framing OK (maybe a little wider) -

but it doesn't seem that well focused nor do I think enough depth of field - maybe you were aiming for speed at expense of fstop - could you have uped the iso ??

at end of the day it's compromised - so ones ends up with an OK shot !!

Fairytale landscape by Cookie_Monster

Fairytale landscape

forgive me but why would you take a landscape shot at f8 & 1/180 - its blurred in the foreground - ?

Did you not think of upping the iso to 200 taking your speed down to 1/50th (keeping rigid of course) and letting the f stop take care of itself - you could also have set the exposure compensation to minus 1 or 2 giving yourself an even greater depth of field ??

It really is not nuclear science just a basic grip on what the various requirements are for landscape (DOF required) as opposed to portrait shooting (DOF not really important - speed becomes more so)- get that right and your talent will blossom

The Bond by davidbailie

The Bond

Thanks all - I've done precious little in the way of families and kids - but this was, regardless that I say it myself, a very successful shoot - that young imp was the ingredient that pulled it all together!

The Swirl by davidbailie

The Swirl

Thanks Chinga - that's the fact! - only they're bigger!!

This is Holland Park's Japanese garden The garden was opened in 1991 as a gift from Kyoto to commemorate the long friendship between Japan and Great Britain - It's a reflection of what the Japanese believe public gardens should be - been there once (Japan) - and for what it's worth I think they've cracked it - it is at the very least an area of order reflection - If you're feeling jaded head there, sit awhile, reflect and voila you're whole again Smile - In fact this applies to the whole park.

Holland park for my money is the finest park in the world - of course I haven't seen all the parks in the world (who has) but I've been around awhile (76 years) and visited many countries as a result of what I do + my own interests -

Holland Park is committed to a vision of a mixture of nature as it should be + organised formal gardens - it is truly wonderful - if you aint been there - you are culturally deprived Smile

I love scences such as these and you've got a decent shot - why not straighten your horizon - scroll the horizon to the top of the screen - you#ll see what I mean
