Another look at Public Buzz

There is a little known feature on ePHOTOzine called 'Public Buzz'. It's a little widget that can be added to the homepage for e2 members. It essentially allows users to post messages to each other in a public area similar to the forums.

However, I feel the existing design of this feature hinders it's usage and probably confuses people as to what it is. We have been doing some heavy work to the homepage over the past few months and it gave us a chance to redesign the Public Buzz feed and make it look the way it should be.

Below are some before and after shots:

Hi Dave,

You'll have to add it to your homepage using the 'Customise Homepage' option on http://www.ephotozine.com .

Not a criticism just an observation / suggestion.

Why has this " tweak " not been added to the New Features section ?

Additionally it was used for announcements frequently in the past and was easy to find so wondering if you are going to resurrect it / point use in its direction more often ?

It was when it was launched 2 years ago as part of the customisable homepage:

We've started using the News are of the site for announcements over the past year or so as it gets more exposure. This new design is yet to be released, but when it does, we will make everyone aware.

But not easy to find " New Features" if you have been " away " from the site for even a few days.
Whereas having a dedicated section on the drop down menu you could just go to it straight away and check it out.

Shortcut for the homepage anywhere on the site is made easy by a left click on the EPZ logo in the top left hand corner of the page you happen to be viewing! Took me a while to sus out........
