Welcome to EPZ Rebecca, - assuming you havent been welcomed before.

This is a superb shot, excellent exposure, using one of the finest pieces of optical glass in the world of photography.

The focus is right on the eye, - with of course relatively shallow dof, which I assume you were after. You did have the latitude to stop down for increased dof, but at the expose of ISO, since you wanted a stop action shot.

The mound of snow at the bottom right looks exceptionally sharp, - but I cant tell if its just that lens, or you had done some PS work, - but might be worthwhile softening the edge a little.

Well done, and enjoy the site.

If you put this shot up for votes, it will do extremely well.

I will upload a mod shortly, perhaps work on that snowbank.

regards

Willie

I was interested to read Willie's comments: you have captured the owl so crisply, freezing the action beautifully.
Welcome to the site, Rebecca, and I hope you find it as instructional and absorbing as I have.
Ronnie.

A fine image by a photographer who obviously knows what they are doing, and equipped with the right gear. Amazed at the exposure accuracy on auto with spot set - proves you handled it correctly. What more to say. I would love to see it A3 or A2.

Wow, you have stopped the owl right in midair, and even a few drops of snow Grin. Excellent. Moira

Quote ''The mound of snow at the bottom right looks exceptionally sharp,''

Ref Willie's comment, the snow he refers to is in the same plane as the bird so would be sharp. I have changed the background a little to remove out-of-focus snow and the jesses, but otherwise it is as taken.
