Loch Lubnaig

Loch LubnaigMorning Dave,

Better late than never......too much "real work" at the moment unfortunately to allow me time on here but I thought I'd have a quick catch up before I start the day!

So.....as you say, lots of healthy debate on this. For what it's worth, I prefer the original posting - I'm very partial to the square format so that ticked the first box regardless.......

The point about the saturation? Colour is a personal preference - there have been times I have been told to increase mine when I didn't want to and there are other times when I've probably overdone it - however, I've always made my choice with the best of intentions, as I guess you did with this. I don't think that should necessarily be a critic of the "photo", but more of what you chose to do with it. It's not entirely "my" choice but I see why you did what you did.

But my main reason for selecting the first version is because, to me, the composition works best in this image. Sure, the sky is very pink but to my mind this works well with the colour in the foreground. The rocks lead the eye through the photo, towards the hills in the distance, without distracting you.

Try it again but without quite so much colour and I think you'll see what the majority are saying about the saturation - but don't you change a thing about the photo!!! Smile

Now it's back to the day job.....

grounded

groundedNicely composed with some good foreground interest.

Just a couple of suggestions, which I hope may help..........

Firstly, the horizon needs a little tweak to get it straight - a definite must in landscape photography. Secondly, the shot would benefit from some better lighting at say sunrise or sunset or when there was some decent cloud in the sky. Nothing wrong at all with the shot - just some slight pointers for the future. I'm making a conscious effort to give something back now I know what I'm doing Smile

Cromer pier

Cromer pierI really like the composition in this and the way you've captured all the lines and patterns in the pier. I may be inclined to crop a little more off the sky so that the focus is solely on the pier.
