Whist walking in Balmaha Park / Forest, the smell of the freshly felled trees was lovely.

Good range of tones and shapes. It also looks good (perhaps better) with the bottom cropped to remove the grass.
Thank you Ian. I did wonder about that, but liked the twig with it's shadow.
Well caputured, Stewart.
Think they will smell good in an open fire aswel.
Good detailed capture.
Ah yes Jan, they would. Thank you.
Thank you Lucien.
Yep, can smell them from here, wonderful, like the shadows too Stewart.
always wanted to try this as well, very nice composition, like the shadow of this plant at the bottom. great image
Well done, Spot on! Click!!!!
Nice sight all those different shapes. You could make the image more abstract by cropping the grass, but that would not necessarily make it better.
Thank you Richard, Cornelia, Greg and Saskia. I'll crop a version and see how it looks
Like the graphic look of those logs with differing sizes. Beautiful colors and textures.
The whole forrest is slowly bieng felled will be nice to have natural trees back oaks etc.
Nice graphic shot, Stewart.
I estimate the time by shadows as being eleven oclock Ha ha, jolly good picture Stewart. Like the little weed. So we have light and shade and shapes. Jolly Good!

great detailed shot well done....liz
Excellent shot Stewart. Textures and colours, great detail. Cheers.
Nice abstract pattern picture...some good textures.
Hi Stewart good abstract - I think I would be tempted to crop the bottom - even the top - showing just the log ends - great shot though still
Great detail shapes and tones Stewart. Nice.
Thank you Liz, Denny, Howard, Barbara and Geoff. Hi Barbara. Ater Ian and Saskia's suggestion I tried a crop off the bottom, looked quite good. Did not think about the top; good suggestion.
This is a TREEt to the eye, auld FELLER !
WOODn't have thought of this shot myself. Must go, the family are PINE'ing for me. Time to LOG off
Lol, lol. What can I say. Very good Colin and cheers. Lol thanks.
excellent shot nice colour and texture
Great lightning and texture. I like it! Clicked.
Great idea, great shot. I wonder what it would look like in B & W.
Now! you have take a plain old wood pile and made it into a work of art! Good idea , well done!
Makes a great image Stewart. I have passed these a few times in a forest close by, but never thought about doing this ☼☼☼☼☼
I did a similar picture in Honk Kong but with bamboo scoffolding. The only change I would make to this would be to crop the grass at the bottom off. Would also be interesting to see in B&W.
Thank you Arnie, Paavo, David, Rob and Laura. Thanks for all the comments.
Laura and David; I shall try a b/w version.
Good lighting and textures! Well captured!
great shapes textures & tones love the shadow from the little twig *Click
Thank you Sandy and Shelley
Love the smell of newly sawn logs Stewart . 3 Times I have gone to comment on these logs and something always diverts my attention .!! My husband always had to photograph a pile of logs if he saw them . Must be a man thing . I like how you have cropped them . Stands out much better x
Hello Mavis. know the feeling; about to comment on a picture, the phone goes and I click back to gallery, lol. Glad you like the mods. I enjoyed altering the image and actually really like the second mod. Thank you.
Mavis That modification is excellent. Thank you.
a nice shot, might i suggest one thing though, get in a bit closer and only include the wood in your shot, might capture a nice patter of all these logs....just a thought, nice though
Hi Ben. Good suggestion. I did two mods with crops and Mavis did a version too. Have some shots close in as well. Thank you.
Very nice. Just got a real fire - this is how I want my living room to look before too long.
I think a tighter crop might improve it, but great as it is.
Hello Richard and thank you. Did you view my mods where I have tightened the crop?
Love the tones. You really have a variety of pics on here. Keep it up! Shania
