You who look at my image may find the title a little strange so I'll explain the reason.
You see I have what I call a "Bucket List" this is a list of things that I wish to do or even see before I die, in other words before I "Kick the Bucket". So seeing Stonehenge was one of my wishes so now I can put a tick against that one and move on to the next challenge. Unfortunately I have come to realise that there are already some things that are on my list that I will through disability be unable to achieve but so what there are plenty of others down on it and as I don't intend to go quite yet maybe I'll get one or two others ticked off! ![]()
This must be one of the most photographed place in the British Isles, on the day I was there there must have been thousands of people from all over the world taking at least 10 pictures each. So you could say at least 50 000 images a day so I do not this picture to do to well as there cant be many people in the country that have not seen hundreds of images already.
The thing that matters to me though is "I LIKE IT"
Thanks for taking the time to have a look at one thing on my Bucket List. ![]()
David.
PS can I also say a special thank you to redstag AKA Jon for his encouragement . Next time Jon.

Wow, Excellent image David.
Really like the processing and that fantastic sky works so well with these mysterious lumps of stone.
Regards
David
OH GOD! I have a bucket list to but dont think I am going to get thro mine but I am trying heheh! Love the picture, you weren't all that far from me (as the crow flies) taking this picture. I saw it years ago and when you didnt have to queue and now I think you have to pay!!!
Hi David,
This looks every bit as good - no better than the one you sent to my phone, that sky is brooding and moody filling the scene with much atmosphere as these marvelous stones deserve, your list is a good idea and I must start to get one, I have a few things in mind ![]()
This should get much attention David, get it printed up too....
Linda ![]()
This image is as brooding and moody as surely this amazing place should be? That really is quite some sky! A visit was on my list too, but eventually saw Stonehenge one very chilly October day a few years ago. The nice thing about bucket lists is that they can be so readily adapted!
Ann
David I need to say this is just great... the tone the view and the sky, all together a stunning shot. Love it really much my friend.
Carsten
PS: If you like to have it printed please let me know and I do it in A3 for you for free...
))
Great shot Dave. Excellent toning and composition.
Glad to see you back uploading.
I think of the guy who was granted a wish by a genie.
He wished "I want to live forever",
"No, living forever is not allowed" replies the genie.
"OK, I want to live until England win the world cup"
"You crafty so and so" said the genie.
LOL

I love the idea of a bucket list..
Must get one up and running
Thanks for the idea
Great shot here as well
Regards Barbs
Good grief, I never expected this much attention on this image, saying that though it is very welcome and I would like to thank all of you who have taken the time to have a look. Thank You. Also to all of you who thought that the bucket list was a good idea and to EAS who has the right idea with the Bucket List, Your right it can be readily adapted as time passes. To Linda as well for saying it should be printed and to Carsten for offering to get it printed for me. Thank You.
I would like to say that I intend to get a couple of more images before My Bucket List is closed for good! Ha...Ha...Ha. ![]()
Thank you all.
David.
Serious stuff, Funny thing I live 10 mile from this pile of rocks, still not photographed it yet... guess I should start a list ![]()
nice clouds
Dave
Wonderful capture, David, love that dramatic sky. Going to Egypt and seeing the Pyramids was top of my bucket list, and I got to do that in Spring last year!

Stonehenge at its best David, the sky is awesome.
I visited this place about 25 years ago as a young boy and it was really great then. It was free to get in and I could get close to and touch the stones. But now they turned into a tourist place and charge people 8-10pounds to see it from a distant.
kind regards
Yung
This is an excellent image and makes me think of when I was there years and years ago - when I was very young - and no-one else either apart from husband and me. It was dark and grey and very quiet, just the atmosphere your image conjures. We could walk wherever and touch whatever - I gather things have changed a lot - shame.
Thanks for sharing this.
Sue
the scene,s very atmospheric i like very much, i wish you all the best in ticking off lots more on your bucket list. kind regards paul.
I like the moody image and I love the mod. My bucket list includes watching Grizzly Bears fishing the salmon run - any suggestions for locations?
thanks for the namecheck! Sorry we couldn't meet up but work and stuff conspired against us, next time though it would be great to meet up and maybe explore other parts of Wiltshire. You should share your bucket list, you might even encourage me to pick up the camera again!
Jon
Great shot, love the moody sky, really gives it an atmosphere.
Hope you achieve all you have on your "Bucket list"
Regards Ricky.
Love the idea of a "bucket list". Think I might start one of them myself ![]()
And I love Stonehenge too, even if I have seen it many, many times having grown up just a few miles away.
Used to cycle there as a kid and that was in the days when you could get right up to the stones. Cycled there for the Summer Solstice on more than one occasion too, but never taken a photograph of it yet so maybe that's one for my "bucket list". Don't think I'll cycle from where I live now though as I'm about 600 miles away ![]()

Cracking shot David ~ If you like it, then that is all that matters, if others like it then its a bonus.
Lets hope we all clear the buckets before our time comes.
Regards
Doc
its a great image of an iconic place, however your image is very unique in the fact that your image was taken by you in your style in your composition in your camera settings so no one and it does not matter how many images there are of this place will have the same photo.
I am glad you like it because so do i and many others before me.
This is the reason i love photography so much, all our images are unique.
Ian
Hi David,
great moody image of this great landmark.
I go there to each summer solstice, when it is completely opened & you can walk within the stones.
This year, I am also going to the Winter Solstice there , with the aim of photographing some friends who attend for spritual reasons.
Here's to hoping you can clock up a good total on your list.
Thankyou for the vote on my "Indian Lady."
Gareth
Hi Desilver..just revisiting this photo as I like it so much..and it ties in with the series that I am in the midst of posting up at present...take a look if you get time, it is Stonehenge during the Winter Solstice , but mainly concentrating on the Druids that celebrate there.
Gareth
This is one place I have yet to visit David. I also like your shot, and the brooding clouds do put an atmosphere of the whole scene. As for a bucket list of mine, the many places I would love to visit with my camera, that would cost a fortune! Still I might win the Lottery one day?
