Another from the Menai meet, which I hope was the first of many.
I've been along the valley floor many a time but never up to the slate quarry itself. There is loads to photograph up there, whatever your bag. I decided I liked th contrast between the slate tip and the landscape, especially with the heather making a bid for colonisation. The sky was changing all the time as I took this, so I had to be quick with the bracketing to avoid too much cloud movement.
Thanks for looking and I hope you like it. All comment and critique welcome, be it good or bad.

A great dof and lovely colours and light. The sky is a real bonus too.
Thanks everybody. Mari I'm glad it brings back memories for you. We were sorry you couldn't make it at the weekend.

Crop the left third off and it would be a better image for me. The square format would suit this well however as it stands the loss of shadow detail in the hills on the left detracts slightly.
The floor and foreground is excellent showing great detail.
Dan
super shot, very colourfull and loads to look at too, well done , heres your RC too, G
Thanks very much everybody and thanks Pete for the HC. ![]()
Dan, I appreciate the feedback, however I'm surprised you say there is a loss of shadow detail, on my monitor there is no loss. In fact I composed the shot to show the shadowy hills as a contrast to those with the light on them.
Ian
Ian perhaps its just the compression but the screen Im viewing on is calibrated. The hills just appear a little too dark ... I suppose it could also come down to personal pref too. No worries.
Dan
I'll have to take a look at it on my PC when I get home, it probably is just down to calibration differences.
