Thanks for the comments, I finally found one that Pete likes :0). Thanks for pointing out the background Simon, I had missed that. I'll get rid of it on my copy.
Ian
hard to choose a superlative that hasnt been used! well done, lovely picture
I hardly need add further comment. This is
as clean and simple a visual symbol of 'serenity' as you could find in nature.
Well conceived..
I do not understand how one can react to the comments made by other "readers". I take the opportunity of this magnificent picture to react to your comments concerning a picture of mine: you are perfectly right, and the candle should replace the sun (it is a rising sun) and the mask (which is a sculpture made several thousands years ago -Nefertiti) is also superfluous. Comments, especially well based criticisms, are quite useful. thanks.
Hi Ariel
It's easy to reply to other people's comments, you just use the 'add reply' button at the bottom of the comments. Thanks for the compliment on this image. I've added a further comment to yours.
Ian
Thanks Graham. It's a rare event for one of my shots to really come off the way I want it, so all the positive comments are much appreciated.
Ian
A great image. Well seen and taken, and the post camera work is faultless. Also, more importantly, the post camera work enhances the image.
Dave
I'm overwhelmed by the number of comments I keep getting on this. It's not often the image matches what I see in my head, but this has done and I'm really glad everybody else also likes it. Thanks again for all the feedback.
Ian
I've looked at this image so many times and never commented, shame on me! It's simply absolutely perfect Ian.
Mary
again, many thanks to all of you for your positive comments. If I never get another EC this one will continue to give me pleasure, increased by the knowledge that so many of you also like it.
Ian
retrospective -looked at your portfolio and saw this - very nice indeed
Beautiful shot! Great idea to replace the original background with black.
the result justifies the means. great shot/ processing. fine art at it's best.
can't believe i never clicked on this. came across it a few times this spring. with all the swan shots emerging this season, this one's still my favourite. there's such an elegant flow in this picture.
Thanks once again everybody for all the comments.
Dave, I'm honoured that mine was the first photo on which you chose to comment.
Lucie, it's my favourite too. :0) In fact (and nothing to do with the EC) it is one of my favourites of all the photos I have taken over the years.
Ian
Ian, thanks for your comments on my photo, Sunset and Lighthouse,I have only had my digital camera a week and still experimenting with settings etc. I value your comments as I can see you are an expert photographer, I love every one of your photos, brilliant composition and colours etc.this one of two swans is just stunning! Mac.
Thanks for the feedback. Makar I would never call myself an expert, there are loads of people on here far better than myself. I just try to explain what I see in a photo in the hope it helps people get more enjoyment out of their hobby.
Ian

Ian
Wow! Fantastic shot/work!
Thanks for your visit...
My photo was taken at the opening ceremonies of the European Capital of Culture (which is Cork this year).
I used two "photocopy" filter layers, and "darken" blending mode to get the layers to blend with a "cutout" filter layer.
Also pushed up the saturation.
Awesome photo - congratulations on the EC! Excellent use of digital manipulation to improve an already excellent shot.
Chris
I felt this image was a little on the fake side.
Does the natural beauty of swans on water need this type of manipulation?
The swans look lost in a big pool of sticky photoshop oil rather then fresh water.
Ethan
Each to their own Ethan. Thanks for the comment.
Ian
No problem Lourens and thanks for the comment.
Ian
Just realised, I've seen this a hundred times but never commented! Still pretty good considering you took this in your youth!
lol, thanks Ed. Good to heard from you again, hope things are going well.
Love this shot. The swans' postures are great.
Was this using the flood filter?
Sam
Hi Sam, thanks for the comment. No filter anywhere near this, the reflections are totally natural. :0)
The only manipulation is what I put in the description.
Ian
