Quote: Thanks Ollie i don't think the auto focus picked up claires eye i think it has focused on something else not sure what though.
the problem has been to low an F/stop mate.... making the DoF shallow, therefore making the focus look soft....try a slightly higher f/ number to bring the rest of her face etc into focus but leaving the background blurred
Hope this helps

Nude first attempt
Great shot mate.... Well composed....the model truly knows what she wants...which makes your job a lot easierAs for darkening the backdrop you could try playing with the aperture to allow less/more light into the camera, or even repositioning the model either further away or closer to the background sometimes helps..... it's all about trail and error....you may find a niche in the lighting that you would like to use on a regular basis
Keep it up mate...enjoying your progress

Portrait Night
Very nice image, but looking at the large version is soft....you have focused on her hair to the left and not the eye. The eyes need to be pin sharp thats what makes your portrait.I done exactly the same on my first session hence I'm passing the information on to you, always focus on the eye then re-compose your shot as necessary.
Hope this helps and good luck with your next shots.
Darryl
