Greetings and thanks for squeezing yourselves through the letterbox!
22:50 on a Wednesday; a 5:1 panorama; and faffed around with!
Probably the Kiss of Death!
Ah, well...ho hum...![]()
I shot this during a 30 minute stop, three years ago and have been fiddling about with it off and on since then.
Tried various smaller crops, but it really needs the context of the whole vista to make it work, imo.
This is the latest incarnation...the Saga continues
A 6 shot stitch and a bit of giggery-pokery.
Many thanks for dropping in.
Quite frankly, I'm amazed you've got this far!
Needless to say, you really need to see the LARGE version - it won't make much sense otherwise.
Even then, it still might not make much sense, but I quite like it, and it reminds me of somewhere I'd really rather like to be.
Cheers
Bill

It doesn't look quite real - a quality of the light, I think - it certainly suits the title and, yes, rather there than here... Carol
As a piece of art it's fantastic, looks like the work of Wim Lassche and works really well. I could see this hanging in the Loch Duich Hotel over the road, you should print and frame one and take it up there.
Breathtaking scene and you've set a great moody feel to it!
Love it ![]()
Tim
Well, that's a nice surprise!
I went to bed shortly after posting this, fully expecting it to drop without even a ripple. Just logged in to find it's done (doing?) rather better than I expected.
Thank you all for your comments.
Simon - Hmmm; an interesting idea. I might have to look into it, if I can ever find the time (or the money) to get up there again. I'd dearly love to!
Quote: Magical shot - for me I would have left a chunk of the right and placed the castle on the right 1/3 line, instead of the middle.
Love the atmosphere in the shot
An interesting point you raise, Andy. I have actually experimented quite a bit with this, but settled on what you see here. I feel that any sort of creative crop using the so called "rules of composition" result in an unbalanced scene. What really makes this work, imo, is the framing effect of the hills on either side: the context that the castle sits within, so to speak.
Cheers Ian. I'm very happy that my faffing seems to work.
Thanks again everyone - it really is most appreciated!
Bill
Cheers, Graham and Andy!
I'm fairly amazed so may people have dared to go beyond the titchy thumbnail!
Bill
Well, it does seem to shout "faffed around with", as you call it, but your faffing around did result in quite a pleasing image. It does look more like art than a straight shot, but who cares, as long as the result looks good. Btw, I think your composition is fine.
Conrad, Martin and Sarah, you are most kind to say such nice things!
Thank you.
Bill
Billy, after all the hard work you put into the photo and then posting on here and putting yourself down I hope you are happy with the amount of positve interest this has raised.
A smashing photo that shows how much work you have put into it. One to be very proud of.
Why, Colin!
What a fine compliment, thank you very much indeed!
Cheers
Bill
Thanks Guys!
Yes, Sue, you must! And bring along one of those wonderful skies you seem to be blessed with!! ![]()
Bill
Gosh Peeps!
I'm really quite surprised by the reception this has received!
I truly believed that a long skinny thumbnail would be quite off-putting! Shows how much I know, eh?!
Thank you all very much.
And, Yung! What can I say!!
Cheers for now
Bill
Thanks again Guys!
Eric - that's a very nice compliment indeed, especially coming from the Photoshopmeister!!
Cheers,
Bill
Gosh!
Thanks, Yung, you've just made my day with your award!!
It's most appreciated especially coming from a photographer of your calibre!
Cheers
Bill
