a photo from the series "we build this city", a tribute to the people who really build Dubai.

this man was working on a building site in the desert and was walking towards the shed no doubt to drink some water.
he was wrapped up to protect his skin against the scorching wind which was blowing right across the desert for most of the afternoon.

The cutting off of your subjects feet kind of had be going back and forth as to whether to give this an award, as it's my only bone of contention with the shot. As it stands, however, I think this is great; I can really feel the wind whipping at me as I look at this (probably further enhanced by the 80mph winds currently blowing outside my window - ahh, winter in Scotland!), and the the image is lovely and sharp, with bold colouring.

Michael.

michael,

Thank you for your comment.
The feet in or out bothered me a long time. I decided for the crop as that resulted in a more of the "viewer drawn into the photo", if you know what I mean.
Showing the man full length meant that he was further away in the frame and thus there was less of a visual contact imo.

Thank you for the award. it is appreciated as these do not come often to me. Smile

Robert

I can understand your decision, given your reasoning.

you could argue that the safety vest should show some "wind" (gaussian motion blurr) too. but that is now too late.
