Hi Christine thanks for your kind comments on my image and looks like you've raised a bit of interest with this shot too. It's a cracking detailed shot and nicely diffused darkened background. Just one comment and of course this is subjective, perhaps the angle could have run from bottom left diagonal to top right diagonal. just to give it that bit more energy and a more natural lead for the eye. Hope that is useful.
Kind regards, Rod

Golden bloomed grey longhorn beetle

Golden bloomed grey longhorn beetle by Mike_Young

Beautiful image and beetle, where do you find these? As above the detail and sharpness is superb, did you use off camera flash as you seem to have an excellent D.O.F for a 100mm lens.

Lovely high key mono and great composition. Though I have to admit I feel as if I'm leaning to the right a little when I look at it, but could be me. Superb capture though.

I think No 2 works best for me, nice capture and control of verticals.

Oil cans on locomotive

Oil cans on locomotive by ejways

Nice idea, you have got a good lead from right too left. I think the image could do with darkening the bg and as a suggestion a bleach bypass and then finished off with a vignette to draw the attention to the central objects and theme.

Lovely image nicely composed and perfectly suited to the mono treatment, I certainly remember these Rovers. The rain is a nice effect too, but looks like it was photo shopped, though could be wrong.

But a the image has a really nice feel to it with the ambiance and subtle lighting of the bg.

Nice atmospheric capture works well in mono. I'm looking at it and wondering if the gentleman was holding a cane/walking stick it would benefit the picture.
