A scary place to be first thing in the morning when you are on your own! This is the Rumbling Kern at Howick in Northumberland. I went with my family the previous afternoon to see what it was like and to make sure I wasnt taking any risks in the morning. I had also checked the tide tables and this was a receding tide which is the best and the safest for coastal photography.
Not enough cloud greeted me but liked this little patch of seaweed hanging on to the ledge and used a faster shutter speed than normal to capture the incoming waves. Got two boots of water at one stage but at least it wasnt windy or it would have been impossible.
Tell me what you think.

This is a great capture. I like the crashing wave, well timed there. I'm staying a couple of miles away from here in 2 weeks time so think I will visit here.

Good luck with it Ian, the rocks have plenty of grip but the sea is very strong around the edge.

Not your usual silky milky seascapes, this is full of raw power and natural energy, as well as a slice of great talent.

Some waves there mate, can see why you were cautious!

This wasn't last Thursday morning by any chance was it, because that sky, and the big sea looks like the same conditions that I encountered at Spurn Point last Thursday morning?
