A moment I have been waiting for for several years since I first saw an image by Keithh. This, in case you didnt realise, is the Admiral von Tromp at Saltwick Bay. I first attempted to shoot this a couple of years ago now (may even be 3) when I arranged a photographic trip away with my buddy Ben. When we arrived, on the only weekend we could both make, the tide was high which meant no Admiral for us. I finally managed to get back last week when I persuaded my wife that we needed to spend our holiday in the lakes and yorkshire dales this year. A friend of mine came over and spent the night with us and, by way of payment, I made him come out with me for sunrise. I wanted him to keep an eye on the incoming tide which we had sussed out the day before by visiting the admiral around the same time after low tide as the conditions would be in the morning.
I cant pretend I wasnt a little nervous as the Black Nab reminds my of a nuclear sub which have always scared the life out of me. There was no colour in the sky but this seems to suit the mood of the shot anyway. the story of how the Admiral ended up by the nab can be found here Its worth reading. Hope you enjoy the image.
