There are two very similar butterflies, the Gate Keeper and the Meadow Brown. I think I'm going to disagree with Annette and Nathan and say this is the Meadow Brown. Usually Gate Keepers have the two white eye spots on the underwings and they also have eye spots on the back underwings - although this one has two eye spots on the forewing, they are missing from the back wing, the whole pattern on the back wing suggests Meadow Brown to me!
A sure way of telling would be to see the upper wings.
You've captured it beautifully, the details are wonderfully sharp and the background nicely blurred! ![]()
