I'm not familiar with the G12, does it show a histogram? You need to make sure that the blacks are black and the whites are white. This will give a more punchier photo. I would take further photos of the same scene at different times of the day. This will help you to see how shadows give a feeling of depth. This shot appears to be taken in the middle of the day. Try an early moring or late afternoon. I would love to see the photos posted.
