I don't know why I put the tree that much in the centre. I think it had to do with the angle I chose to shoot from, where I wanted to position the lichen clad rock in front etc. So even if the sunlit tree is in the centre there are other features like the tree behind it and this rock that make the total composition come close to the rule of thirds. I think it must be the total evaluation I did there and then than made the picture turn out like it did.

Don't forget that the rule of thirds is one way of composing a picture, putting something in the middle is another composition. Personally I think it really works here. That is because the light hits the tree in a magical way and the rocks get these last rays as well.
The rocks form a triangle with the tree, and that triangle is very nice framed.
I love the light and warmth in this image!
