The tiny flower of an Epiphyllum (cactaceae) also known as the Orchid cactus or Strap cactus. The stems are flat and as the alternative name suggests, strap-like. Many grow into quite enormous plants with huge flowers, some flowering only in the night and some with wonderful scent. This version is small growing and the flowers are around 1 cm in size. This image was taken with my original camera, the bg was black card with a touch of PS used to darken later.

Many thanks to all who so kindly endulged me with voting for "I've Found the Easter Bunny". As promised, he isn't lingering too long. Regret there are so many just clicks from me - the arm continues a problem so please forgive.

Very nicely done, Ann: you can sense the fleshy nature of the petals, the detail being so crisp.
And as you might guess I do like the way the black b/g shows off the blooms so effectively.
Ronnie.

These are just beautiful.
I had two night blooming epiphyllums, we over-wintered them in the garden shed, but they did not make it Sad The aroma of them was heavenly. I brought them with me from Houston, and managed for 9 years here, but the climate can be so extreme in this area.

Hey hey! An Epiphyllum!! Same genus as my Keng Hwa in '160 Minutes' Smile Although this is a lovely colour! Mine was white. And for a Keng Hwa, mine was smallish. But you said yours is only 1cm across?? So sweet! I never knew there were any that small.

Lovely captures of this beaut, Ann.

Hi Ann, I had to come back to this wonderful image, sorry to just have clicked last time, but I am in a shortage of time just now. Preparing a concert for Kenny Speirs from Denholm and his band. They are staying with us, for the night, so I have to prepare the guest rooms (which haven't been used over the winter and are in need of thorough cleaning - Smile), shopping and preparing food, doing in advance as much as I can do and freeze, hair dresser... etc.
But this images is far too beautiful to just leave it with a click. The textures are beautiful and the black bg even enhances them, giving a silky feeling to the bloom. Very well done!
