Though the Yellow Horned Poppy may well be familiar to some who will have found it growing by the sea shore, this is the Red version. It's also a wildflower though much less common. Several years ago we had a large wildflower meadow here. Seems silly saying this, but our soil was too good and eventually the beautiful annuals died out but a few have held on, popping up not in what was the meadow but in the shrubbery next to it and I have simply left them to get on with it! This is one of those and always welcome.
