Giving this one a go having felt the previous 3 images really didn't strike a chord with fellow epz members in general. Thanks, however, to all who took time to look at them and leave their comments/votes.

My favourite cut flower, the gerbera, Ann, and you have certainly done it justice here, a beautiful image. Carol

A lovely capture, well controlled exposure which would be quite difficult given the varied shadows and sunlight. As for previous images...just going back to have a look but after eight years on this site I soon realised you can't please all of the folk all of the time and as long as you like the shot, then that's all that matters (though I know it's a nice feeling to get approval from others)

Love the light and shade on this one, so much more interesting that an evenly lit flower image.

I've also gone back to see why - and I would add to Mike's comment that it is also holiday time and people are away. It is hard when you feel that you have worked hard on an image or a series and there are fewer responses than usual, but this should certainly strike anyone looking at it - vibrant, well composed and with shadows, sun and shadows it ticks a lot of boxes - but more than anything - I like it SmileSmile

I am amazed that you should think your previous 3 images did not strike a chord they achieved 40, 70 and 68 votes respectively. Personally I would be highly delighted if I achieved even 40 votes.

Vibrant flaming orange against the black makes this zing from the screen. I'd maybe prefer it without the shadows but this is a lovely image, Ann.

Thanks, Albert! I removed a couple of images though as neither came anywhere close to 70 or 68! I think the weather has at last got to me. Back to yet more heavy rain and a garden which is flooded! So many think comments and encouragement though should get me back on track!

Aside form the fact that this is superbly photographed, sharp and clear, true to life colors, the dappled shadows give this an artistic flare that is so appealing!

A beautiful gerbera captured with shadows falling across the petals......an original idea which has worked very well, Ann. Full marks for that as well as for a top quality floral shot.

We had torrential rain on Friday and Saturday. Thought of you and your garden and wondered what the weather was like with you, obviously the same as usSad Well controlled reds Ann as it looks as though it was in the very bright sunlight that seems to accompany heavy rain showers. I like the shadows, very well captured and presented.

First off, GORGEOUS shot with the mix of elements - light, shadow and rain. Second, it stands out so well against the black, Ann! Well done on wiping out the background. Third, love your title Grin

PS Votes have numerous variables. Day of the week, time of the year, time of the day, what people are going through, etc. Don't let it determine the quality of your image. That aside, I'd be STUNNED if I got anywhere near the number of votes your last few images got Smile
