This male Common blue Polyommatus icarus, was taken early morning at Twywell
My last session with the butterflies of 2012 & possibly the last image I took too![]()
I only came across two males and a female that particular morning![]()
Just shows how badly the Common blues suffered last year.
Won't know how poor they fared, until middle/late of May

Super quality capture Adrian, yes it was bad last year.
Regards
Trev.
A flawless close up of this tiny beauty Adie, there were very few of them in Gloucestershire too compared with previous years. The most I ever saw was at Sand Bay and Sand Point near Weston-Super-Mare.
Cracking shot Adrian a real beauty and one to be proud of but all your images have quality without question
Hello Adrian, Thank you for your greeting, very well captured, excellent colour and detail.
David
wonderful, have never seen them with as much dew as you often have!
Quote: How you manage to capture shot after shot with them posing in a perfect orientation is beyond me.
It is early morning Ronnie, after a cool night - they are still sluggish, awaiting the sun to warm them up![]()

Late summer, early mornings Annette - a previous warm day and a cool night = heavy dew![]()
