Came across this yesterday, reckon it's a Swaledale Skull. It's complete apart from the bottom jaw. Had a little life left in it as it managed to jump into the van and is currently residing in my shed (Mrs H is unimpressed!).
All C&Cs welcome
Thanks for looking
Excellent photo Den !! Very well taken - and it has to be in mono or nothing
Hi Den, no, no, it's not dead, it's just restin'. (M.Python) seriously, great comp', love the strong diag' leading to curve of horn & perfect DoF. best regads, Si
Certainly well picked clean.....
Works in mono
Very, very good. I like the way you got down low and looked it in the eye-socket. It occupies the frame.
Long time since I had a decent skull as a prop, farmers seem to have got more conscientious about clearing dead animals. Which is probably as well...
An excellent mono study, Den. I can't really imagine it in colour! The conversion is very good indeed.
Not easy to improve on the image in discovery mode, i.e. when you were presumably lying on your front squinting through the viewfinder. I like the dof but think in the circumstances f8 would have added some vital textural detail on the horn without including significantly more background. Since the object is now in your possession you can work on it at your leisure: it would make a great centrepiece for a memento mori.

How we must suffer for our Art
An excellent capture with great detail. Superb conversion, Den.
That sheep wouldn't vroom if you put 40,000 volts through it!! I'm looking forward to where this skull is going to appear next, Den
Nice detail and texture in this fine image!!
A well detailed image, Den!
I'm sure we haven't seen the last of it!
Great subject for a mono.
Superb image, my sincere compliments.
A fantastic observational study, very well composed and crafted, the monochrome adding to the appeal
Looks great in mono, Den. Wonderful!
great mono work, great shot.
A great capture, works well in mono...I am on Mrs H's side...just don't take it indoors
Love your narrative. Great find, and I suspect it had a little help to jump into your van.
Now I am seeing a dark and moody still life with a lit candle, cobwebs, an old book, a lot of dust......and "Wooly's" skull!
This is great work, I love this kind of stuff.
