Under the tree

Under the tree by horst45

As an amateur I feel slightly daunted giving critique to a professional photographer so please see these as my ideas and not a criticism of your work. Personally I cannot say anything about the camera craft itself the model seems well lit and has a good balance of light and shade.

For me I would have liked to crop the image tighter still and have the majority of the background blurred with just the branch focussed. I've loaded a mod to demonstrate. I would value your opinions on my modification

lighthouse park

lighthouse park by chandler1

This is first of all a really nice long exposure image, however for me it suffers from a problem many long exposures can get which is over exposure. This is an image you took at 9.25pm and light s can be seen on in the distance however the overall lightness of the image suggests it is more afternoon than evening. There also appears to be a distinct blue tone in the clouds and sea which just wouldn't be there with this amount of cloud cover.

In my MOD I have adjusted the tones in the sky and the sea to take out some of the blue and I have reduced the overall exposure by 1.5. I then boosted the yellow and red channels to emphasise the advancing sunset.

Let me know what you think.

Hi Rick
I like the use of light and shadow in this with the frame highlighting the bottle.

Really nice springtime image Alan. You didn't pick any did you I notice a wet weather front approaching NE England and you know what they say about picking bluebells. GrinGrinWink

I'd make sure you've got scaf and gloves with you next time you seem tae be shiverin something terrible when you took this shot. GrinTongueTongue

You have a nice theme going in these images and your movement gives a really abstract feel to the whole image.

You say reverse shadows Alan but truth is its more reflections. We are all used to seeing the reflected image in a mirror or window but her it is the light reflectioned off windows themselves.

I like the figure as well giving movement with his scurrying as Moira said almost as if he's rying to avoid your attentions.

Really like this Alan

The road to Cow Green

The road to Cow Green by whatriveristhis

Hi Alan
I've not been around much to comment lately this is as said above an excellent impressionist image. It also reminds me of a collage picture using differing materials to reflect the differing areas in the picture.

Like Ronnie there's not much I ca say extra. As a slight twist and in homage to the age of the truck my mod is a B+W which I hope shows a different approch to the image

I always love your touch with these images Alan the sweep of the branches creating a frame for the Hawk and the background trees just disappearing into the mist. Grin
