An iconic image from our recent holiday in New York. This shot depicts a subway train pulling into a station platform. It was taken fairly early on a week day morning during December 2010.
I have altered this shot using Adobe lightroom. This program allowed me to adjust the saturation and the temperature of the shot. I was surprised at how clean the platform looks so I wanted to make the shot seem a little more oppressive and bleak, as it did seem quiet unfriendly to my mind, but then I do live in a quiet English country village , where people still say good morning to each other. ( Miss Marple Country)
I liked this shot as there is a sense of action where the train carriages are blurred yet the emptiness of the platform suggests a quieter desolate scene. I think this is called Juxtaposition
