Was going to take a star swirl picture with the scallop in the foreground but there were too many clouds so shot the sunset instead. this is a stitch of 2 photo's with a few tweaks to bring out the colour of the sky. Sharp eyed people who know this will spot that it has been flipped 180 degrees on the vertical axis as the words are the wrong way round looking inland.

Maggi Hambling The Scallop (2003) Aldeburgh beach.

The edge of the main shell is pierced with the words, "I hear those voices that will not be drowned", taken from Benjamin Britten's opera Peter Grimes which was George Crabbe's poem The Borough put to music.
