Excellent effect on the clouds and the red marker gives a perfect counterpoint to the blue tones.

What a great reductive comp, the long exposure helps simplify it further and as you say has streaked the clouds nicely. The 50:50 split in framing works well and there is the added pleasure of the extra horizontal symmetry where the railings and buoy are reflected. As Dave said, the red is a nice balancing colour to the strong blues. This type of imagery is probably my favourite, redcuctive and a bit modernist but without the ugliness of modern art! The railings and buoy add a touch of surrealism because they stand out so well from the blues. They are a barrier to what looks like a calm sea through the action of the long exposure, they leave you wondering what dangers lurk beyond and why build a jetty that boats cannot moor at. Elegant, reductive and thought provoking. Photography at it's best. Very well done indeed ![]()
Hi Alan what a great start to the week thank you do much for your award it means a lot. I had more minimalist image of the same image before the tide had retreated of just the railings and buoy above the water but it didn't have the same impact as this.... Have a good week and thanks again ![]()
