Robin - Juvenile

Robin - JuvenileLooks a little sad and lonely in the big wide World. Well captured!

Personally I would have desaturated the greens a bit to make them less dominant.

Leopard

LeopardWhat a beautiful and powerful capture which personally I think can be improved by cropping away the light sky area at the top.

Rolf

RolfYou have done well to get this correctly exposed all over and the composition is fine. It might benefit from a bit more contrast.

Aquilegia

AquilegiaA beautiful image. Perhaps I would have cloned out the unopened flower in the top RH corner which is a tad distracting.

Matching thread

Matching threadI think this works so much better as a black and white image. See my mod which also brings out some of the shadow detail.

We need to talk 3

We need to talk 3This is a well thought out fun image but I think that it would work better if you allowed the eye to concentrate on the main subject by a tighter crop and blurring the background ~ see my mod.

2 Birds

2 BirdsA fine capture with attractive reflections but overall has the appearance of being underexposed and I have produced a mod to try and correct this by a shadow/highlight adjustment. A slight crop has been applied to put the birds on the third.

Guinness

GuinnessThree good images and spoilt for choice on which gets the vote. There is a lot to like about No. 2 but perhaps I would have done some selective burning in of the brick wall.

Robin on Tap

Robin on TapTo my eye there is no noise problem with this super image. In normal lighting conditions noise should not be a problem but it will appear in low lighting shots or with a high ISO. If you remain unhappy raise the issue with Canon.

Stag

StagA well composed capture just felt that it needs a more contrast to give it a bit more punch ~ see mod.

Blue Iris

Blue IrisI appreciate how much work has gone into this but I really think the background in its simplicity would make the most effective image.

what a lovely day

what a lovely dayI agree it is a fine well composed capture but your exposure needs correcting I guess all that sea and sand fooled the camera's meter. This can be corrected by going into levels and move the RH slider towards the middle. I would then make an "S" curve adjustment to improve the overall contrast and finally apply a bit more sharpening. See my mod.

Purple Sunrise

Purple SunriseA very good first upload and the composition is spot on. Personally I would lighten it a little with a levels adjustment by moving the right hand slider towards the middle this will retain the blacks which are excellent. Next I would give it just a little more sharpness with Unsharp Mask. It also helps IMO to put a border around the image ~ black with this. See my modification.

swans

swansThis has an unusual beauty to it ~ well seen and timed capture. I have produced a mod to reduce the glare and bring out more of the feather detail using my method of burning in. Which is not to use the burn tool but to add a new layer with the blending mode set to Overlay and filled with 50% grey and with the paintbrush tool with opacity set to around 20% paint black over the areas where you want to bring out detail. If you go too far change to white and repaint over the area. Flatten image when you are happy.

Medicene Lake

Medicene LakeThis is a really super composition and has John said there is a lot more detail to be brought out with the right combination of adjustments. I have produced a mod to try and demonstrate this.

Rock of Ages

Rock of AgesConrad's advice above is very sound however there some improvements taht can be made with PS or other imaging software. I have done a mod:
1. I adjusted the image in highlights and shadows
2. Applied some dodging and burning
3. Sharpened it a bit with USM.
4. Finally I applied a border (personal taste).

Kestral

KestralAgree with Catherine's comments. I took a slightly different approach by giving it an "S" curve adjustment to increase contrast. Bit of dodging and burning. Lightened the eye to bring out more detail. I felt it could stand a bit more sharpening with USM.

Worthing Pier

Worthing PierNice pano composition. I would increase contrast with a curves adjustment. Increase saturation in the red and yellow channels. Apply more sharpening. Put a frame around it. See my mod.
