said the comma trying to look like an old leaf ![]()
Well, I haven't seen the sun since Sunday so no shadows around. So this butterfly shadow from last spring will do the trick I hope

many thanks for your kind reception of the speckled wood. Very special thanks to Phillip and Graham for the GEA and the UA.
How to get a speckled wood: it is a bit like getting a photo of a dunnock they are both well camouflaged and prefer to sit and eat under a bush on the ground.![]()

I have found that dunnocks like roasted peanuts and speckled woods like rotting plums and resinous conifers.

Brilliant macro shot. Amazing detail and color. It seems that now the wave her wings and fly away.
Regards, Oleg
What a fabulous shot, Annette. Good job it didn't land on a dead brown leaf
!
I have pondered for years on the subject of camouflage in insects, nature is so wonderful. It's obviously all to do with evolution and adaptation to the environment, but some have warning colours, eyes, faces and can literally disappear when settled upon the right tree. The buff tip moth is a case in point, it looks exactly like a twig. I remain intrigued and in awe.
Brilliant detail and clarity in this close up Annette, this is outstanding macrowork. As for your title it is as corny as anything Julia "NaturesHaven" could come up with!![]()
