Through the grass, darkly

Through the grass, darklyI really love this different angle and viewpoint, only thing I would change is to get rid of the big white blob above the lamb's head, it's really distracting.

That's one thing I've learned from entering external and internal comps with my club is never have big white blobs that don't need to be there, especially on the edge of the image. It's brighter than the lamb's head and the eye always goes to the brightest object.

The lamb is very cute and looks like it's smiling Smile

Macro Rose

Macro RoseHiya, here I go.....

I couldn't work out how that was a rose when I first looked at it, it seems an odd composition for a flower, I'm used to seeing them looking into the flower, that angle doesn't really work for me (sorry).

I have a deep passionate hatred of flashes so for me the flash has marred the photo, it's caused contrasty shadows on the petals and has made the whole photo too stark.

I'd like to see it taken again with a softer background, the black is too harsh for my liking and natural light only with a reflector maybe if needed but not a flash because I reckon it would look fabulous with a softer touch as all the details in the petals are there and it is a lovely rose.

Oh God that was awful, sorry!
(This critiquing malarky is quite stressful)

Grapes

GrapesOK, here goes my critique, never done it before so ....

I love the colour green but I would prefer a darker background to make the grapes stand out more, not necessarily a black background or anything but just a few shades darker than it is already.

I love the fact you've used natural daylight and not an on camera flash, I have such a hatred for on camera flash I feel my blood physically boil when I see it in photos.

I feel the grapes are a bit 'soft' without much texture and no definite sharpness of focus, maybe wetting them first to catch the light and brighten them up could be an idea and I'd also like to see you go in a bit closer too or else change the composition of the grapes rather than having them straight down the middle in a line.

Hope that was OK, please don't hate me!
