I think it stands out because the foaming water undercuts the rock which is itself curving into shadow. As such, you've got the look of oversharpened because you have a run of black pixels right next to white. Most of us don't manage to stand where you do, Paul. So I doubt many have had the same effect.

Very nicely done. The whites are just right with lots of fine detail still visible in the petals. The background works well too. The little stalk in the top right is a little distracting and could easily be cropped out. The petal at 3 o'clock would be more attractive if we could see the end of it, but that's nature for you!
