Re Stephen's comment about closer pictures across ranks, well this is one of that genre. It was difficult to do, as each rank was a little too close to the others ahead and to the rear, to be able to isolate any one in particular.
But this was my effort anyway.

It's a great shot, which makes it far more personal than your previous one. People can relate to this shot as you have 4 individuals rather than a large group. Do you think it carries a more meaningful message than your first shot? Personally I think it is, as you feel as though you can reach out and touch them as real people.

That's much better, but I would still get in closer for maximum impact - one head really sharp in the foreground with the rest of the row in recession behind. I think, for this one, i would have been at f5.6 or 6.3.

Frank nice effort.
Most of the times the background is as important as the subject we are trying to capture. Here the people at the back are definetely a distraction. I tried to crop them out but the result is no good.
Of course maybe there was no other way around it , I know how difficult is to isolate a rank in a parade ![]()
Maybe a lower point of view would make the soldiers more prominent and hide the people at the back at the same time.
Take care
Charles
