Had not idea what this was from the thumb - lovely, enjoyable to view.

A lovely shot of these hungry youngsters! Smile Can I just say - it is advisable to always take the fat balls out of the net because birds get caught very easily and also cut the netting up into tiny pieces before putting into your dustbin so that it doesn't endanger birds at the landfill sites.

Nice one Sandra...do they say this on the packet though ?
Keith

No, unfortunately not. One of the big mysteries - these things should be banned from the shelves. Try googling fat balls & net...(not something I just made up!) or have a look at the RSPB website (e.g. http://www.rspb.org.uk/advice/helpingbirds/feeding/how.asp at the bottom). I really don't understand why these things are still being sold.

Thanks everyone.

And thanks for the warning Sandra. Be assured... 'No birds were harmed in the taking of this photo!'

I do have a main fat ball feeder that is filled without nets. Chris saw through me... Wink I was being mean just putting out one to catch them all together.

I'm sure Smile - I wasn't criticizing YOU but people who make these fat balls with nets around them and sell them as if it was fine.
