I never get excited about flower shots - but I do about great lighting or shows of skill.

the light you've chosen for this is ideal for the flower - it's bright out the shapes and highlights the sheer number of leaves on the head. A subtle sugestion of the stalk works well too.

....almost made me forget it was just a flower Smile

10/10 for technique

Well, thank you all so very much for your kind comments. I have to say what Ade has said really does mean a lot to me. There are two reasons that I like to shoot flowers (and I don't get particularly excited about them myself either).
Firstly shooting flowers is something that is very accessible, allows the practise of technique, lighting and exposure - particularly at this time of year.
The second it that I am colour blind and this subject allows me to try to get a better understanding of colour - what the colours should and shouldn't look like.

Thanks again to all for the encouragement.

This is great capture. Very well composed and the light is real good. I love the soft shadows on the petals. Very nice I like.

Well I am amazed at this because it is two tone and very well done indeed, good use of light.
