First let me thank everyone who left comments and votes on my 'wet & wild' portrait, I was delighted with the response.
A very special thank you to Pete and the team for the HC award, It gave me such a boost and is so much appreciated.
Today I have created this impressionistic image which started life as a small broken branch off a tree which I put into a vase and photographed. I wanted it to resemble a painting, and as this is out of my comfort zone I would welcome any constructive criticism from anyone who does this sort of thing and can offer me any help or tips on processing in this style.
I would like to do a lot more of this sort of work so will see how it goes down.
Thanks for looking and have a great week.
Fran

I think you've judged this remarkably well. Normally with a picture like this I'd like to see a little of the original detail brought back through the effect, just for something to hold on to, and I'd expect to want a bit more weight at the bottom for balance but somehow neither of these things seem to apply here and it works just right as it is.
A bold, nicely textured and strangely satisfying image.
Eric
A big congrats on your well deserved award
I think this would look great printed large for the wall
Tho' must admit I prefer darker images
Interesting work Fran. Because I'm shortsighted, its easy for me to take my glasses off, look at it as a thumbnail and see it as a whole - and it works ![]()
Brave work - its hard trying something new - but doesn't it make the grey cells work ![]()

Im with Eric on this . Tis a fine palette and image !
Maybe drop some detail like grains of salt on the petals . and dont allow the textured b.g to "bleed" from the frame.
Far better to have contained the whole with a vignette.
Fine art is a recipe of complimentary tones , each the sum of its relevance.
An excellent piece of digital artwork Fran, your creativity knows no bounds
Look great on a canvas print Fran..Put it on my wall anyway....John
