I have uploaded details from Colin Wilbourn's sculpture Kathedra before. It is on the bank of the River Wear just below Durham Cathedral, close to Prebends Bridge. But this is the bigger picture.
The work takes the form of an arched stone seat, which represents the safe sanctuary of the cathedral; around the back, demon faces seethe angrily, trying in vain to get in.
V2 – Stepping a bit further back – for those who like a bit more information. I much prefer V1.
We visited the city with our U3A (University of the Third Age) Photography group. The demons observed them carefully – see V3.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Thanks everyone, this has fared better than I expected. Tomorrow you get the same composition as viewed through the Lensbaby, that will be an interesting comparison.
A busy time at the moment, so my apologies for very little time in the site!

Great use of that lens again Moira, V1 is just right for me great detail in the demons and the bridge just soft enough. I would have gone for the 50/50 here and to hell with convention, an image of two halves? Nice work with the ladies and the demons, the demons seem to have taken control of the battery cover of the ladies camera.

I like V1 most, a concentrated image and I love the juxtaposing the bridge, discernible as a beautiful piece of architecture. Super black and white conversion.

Just love all those faces - even if some are a bit scary! Wink I do like both V1 and V2, the latter shows more of that beautiful bridge, but V1 does attract the eye more to the faces...I think V1 just wins it though! Wink

A great pre-narrative, three great images, however the version which really stands out the most for me is Version Number 1.

Have a great Day

V1 is just so right ... but yes nightmares indeed
The contrast between them and that bridge is perfect

Danny beat me to it with V3 Moira.
A good juxtaposition of stone faces there !!
And all the better for it too.
Nothing worse than these cheesy smiles that some people give to the camera !!

There is something about the color with the demon faces that is even more terrifying. I thought I liked the mono until I saw the color. Although I know that wasn't your intent, the colored demons deserve a closer look.

v1 for me. Your trademark composition of late, which has produced some excellent images. Please note I have manfully resisted any wit, irony, hyperbole, pathos, or satire on v3, nor even a simple epigram Grin for fear of incurring your wrath.

V2 for me Bill. The faces look as if they're cowering a bit more and I prefer the crop.

Back home from school - thanks again to everyone who has visited here, and to Ken for his much appreciated RC.
Re colour - there is a problem with this work, in that different blocks of stone have been assembled, and they range from blueish to greenish to pinky beige. When you get two faces of different colour temperatures they don't work together, which is why I tend to use mono. But I do have a colour upload to come some time.

It's V2 for me, Moira, because I can see the arch shape of the sculpture, which ties in with the other two arches so nicely.
