Having a short break between Help for Heroes stuff at the moment so I thought I'd drop by and post this image of the Cairn Holy 1 Standing stones in Dumfries and Galloway, which was taken around 1 month ago. Need to brush up on my technique to I'll be back again next year .

The Cairn is on the edge of the Galloway Dark Sky Park and night-time is really the only time to photograph these particular stones, as you are faced with wires, telegraph poles, fences and walls in daylight. I need to brush up on my technique though so I'll be back again next year for another attempt.

Thanks for looking.

Fraser.

I'm absolutely delighted with this image Fraser, I'm sure you were too, a great result from standing around on a cold night to get it all worth while when you saw this.
I'm off up to Torridon and I'm staying by a loch so maybe I can get something of the sky during the high pressure promised by the weather men. Her I was thinking it would be short days with sunrise quite late and sunset quite early, doesn't look like it's going to be too early to me.

Great result Fraser - very striking image.
A local standing stone here has similar ugly distractions around it. Must try similar, as like this a lot.

Thank you all very much for your votes and comments. Definitely one to do in the Spring or Autumn because the dark comes too late in the summer and it's too darned cold in the winter!

And a big thanks to Dougie for the RCSmile

Only the wrong clothes, Fraser. I can't imagine what technique needs improving. The stars are only a dream
for anyone living in the London area.
Well done
