First try at B&W, wanting to get a "50's" type image so added noise also. Suggestions greatly appreciated from those of you expertise in B&W. Some hate the border, letters on this series, but that's the way it is.
As always, best viewed large.
Something one would see from the classic photos on Mark Harden's Artchives. Excellent, nitty gritty black and white photography.
I can't offer any useful advice whatsoever but merely would like to produce something like that myself!
I think you've achieved your objective, there's definitely a sense that it was taken long before 2006
very well done. really thought this was an old (but very good) photo. the grainyness, the crop/composition, the shadows... all excellent
Great picture, agree with all the comments and you've definitely done what you set out to. Hate the border though (I think that must be personal taste, but the picture was certainly of sufficient quality for mne to put my border prejudices to rest). Cheers
excllent B&W...think you might even be able to isolate the lady in the heels as a separate shot?
Excellent, love it, very retro, would look great on a greeting card
Has a great vintage feel Jan cracking image.
good bl&w especially since you state it is your first one. Looking forward to more.
the fond is not 50's. I doubt if they had that kind of fond in the 50's. I wonder if strolling is a word used in that decade. just a niggle on an otherwise fine image.
Oh, now that is good, I mean really GOOD...
I too have a thing about the border...this shot stands out on its own with no need for help from any quarter.
love shots like this
Mission accomplished! Well done.
You've certainly achieved your desired outcome - well done on a terrific image with a strong retro feel. Really like the grainy tones and imaginative composition ...
Thanks for the suggestions and comments. I may redo sans the border at some time, or upload a different perspective. Time taken to comment is much appreciated.
You got the feel you were after. Good one.
I am partial to the framing, adds a boundry to the shot giving it more focus, nice work! Spot on! Click!!!
