Cusco, Peru. 3 Shot HDR
like this a lot, great HDR work.
WOW ! That is one of the few exceptions where I absolutely adore the HDR. Shortlisted !
Amazing, fantastic light/detail and i love those cars
Colour combinations to die for. Gosh this is good and sadly under-appreciated.
Yeap WOW superb, congrats on the EC
Neglected but I suspect it will be running for along time yet a nice image.
well done on the EC, great piece of image making
Love the pov and all the colours.
Great subject matter.
Congrats on your well deserved EC
Brilliant use of HDR, a superb image in my opinion
suberb use of HDR!
congrats on the award too
The woman in the shot seems to be moving. How did you keep her so sharp while doing 3 exposures?
Yeap, brilliant HDR.
Wow, thanks for the EC. I thought the image had run its course and i've spent the last hour or two working on a few more beetle shots. Very surprised to have a look this morning and find an EC...thanks again.
Colranekoh - Photomatix has a box you can click to try and account for moving objects - it often does a surprisingly good job but not here. Instead i took the image where the moving women was correcty exposed (the 0EV in this case) and blended the relevent area as a layer mask on top of the HDR image. Then a couple of small adjustments to the "woman layer" to make it look right. incidently I almost got rid of her completely as i wasn't sure if she was distracting. Hope that all makes sense.
I should point out that when I saw the beetle from the bottom of the street i thought of Paul Stefan's East meets West Image. I had my 10 - 20mm and this was the result. Thanks for the comments.
Superior in every way
Many thanks for the explanation.
This is superb Dan and congrats on the EC
glad you kept the women in...she adds something to what is an already stunning image
Superb HDR of a well composed image. Congratulations on the EC, well deserved.
Stunning image. Perfect in every way. Congrats on the well deserved EC
Great depth and tonal use, superb!
great photo and like the colours in particular.congrats on the ec
Wonderful composition and perspective - just what a 10-20 lens should be used for. I am also impressed by your use of 3 shot HDR as the image still looks natural, unlike many, with correct exposure throught.
Stunning shot with extremely good use of HDR.
well done on POTW, it's a superb photo and well deserved
Awesome image! A well-deserved POTW. Congrats.
Congrats! A worthy POW winner. Love the use of the wide angles lens, and as has been said, great HDR treatment.
Congratulations Dan. First class work and a worthy POTW.
Lol but when I commented "gosh this is good but sadly under-appreciated" you had eight clicks and no gongs.
I'm really pleased that this has done so well .........
Came back as i saw DaveU's comment in the latest comments section, and im glad i did you deserve all those awards it really is a fantastic photo congrats
Absolutely love this - I could stare at it and enjoy the detail for ages!
Thanks for all the comments and awards. I uploaded on a Saturday morning and I thought it had maxed out with 18 votes by saturday afternoon. Really pleased to get an EC and very very surprised about the POTW. Thanks for again all the comments.
Congrats on all the awards, very well derserved, super shot!
Just returned to add my congratulations
well done, great choice for photo of the week
Simply stunning work. The colour of the beetle against the scene is perfect. Great work. Cheers, Raife
Great photo love the angle well done on award definitely deserves it.
Great image, shows how good HDR can be
Cracking colours and powerful perspective. Great job and congrats!
one of the very best HDRs I´ve ever seen!
Congrats on the POTW! So very well deserved!!!
Now I get what HDR is about and can do. The sharpness is already fantastic but the way you have brought out the colours is superb. I know Cusco relatively well and (on my onitor at least) you have got the colours of the stone work (post storm) to a 'T'.
Definately worth viewing large to catch the lady sat behind the car.
Congrats on the PotW.
It doesn't get any better than this!!
WELL DONE ON ALL THE AWARDS, great to look at
Fantastic use of HDR!
Congrats on RC & EC & POTW awards!
Fantastic image, well done on the POTW.
Deserving winner of POTW - wonderful composition and colour and I love how the car has been lit.
Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant,........jojo
Almost unnoticable HDR.
And I love Beetles too!!!
This is fabulous!!!
Excellent image well done.
Excellent photo! Good defination!
This is what HDR Is all about, superb tonal detail right through and a well spotted opportunity,
Amazing angle, great shot.
Well done for the POTW.
I am not usually a big HDR fan, but this could turn me. Nice One.
Nuthin to add here - a darn good image
This shot has inspired me to try out HDR. The texture and colour of the beetle looks so real, that I can almost reach out, open the car and drive up that perfectly exposed street.
I notice a bit of glare on the left hand side of the car, is that intentional?
absolutely love this, great work and congrats on the EC & POTW
Fantastic Shot Perfectly Exposed
stunning and perfect well done

My sediments exactly..... perfect and I wish i could do this stuff... this is the image that will propell me toward this technique .. thank you
Love this picture - I've shown it to so many people as a exceptional example of this technique !
