....that is I'm completely out of my comfort zone here. this is an image of my good friend and Neighbour who was willing to let me take his photograph, which is a huge thing for him to do, so i could test out my new 50mm 1.8 lens.

I don't do portraits so this will probably bomb....any advice is more than welcome

Lots of character Gary, he was obviously comfortabel allowing you to grab his image, a natural shot to be proud of.

His face is full of character - just perfect for photography. Like you, I'm totally out of my comfort zone when taking photos of people and would be so pleased if I'd taken this.

Wonderful shot.

very good portraiture. the very narrow dof combined with that windy feeling give this a lot of mood. him smiling works very well in this portrait. nice post processing, although it did leave some traces in the area along the horizon

Kopi . the traces in the BG are just what is thrown up by the small aperture and resizing.

Wow I love the texture in this man's face. I'm not sure it would have had as much impact in colour. Love it!!!

do not know what you are on about......................excellent image, my caledonian friend!! it has soul, and technique.........what more is there? Grin
