One thing really stands out for me, the roses have different coloured shadows.

It's a good try with a compact, as you don't get as much control, and I'm not sure about the single leaf, but worth trying. The back two flowers are just overexposed to lose texture, though they look beautifully delicate. I get the feeling you've tried recovering some in PP, but the bright parts are just too bright. Next time, try a little less exposure...you can always lighten a little but you can't recover blown whites.

Not much to be said. This is a Marmite image. You either like it or you don't. I cant see how you would improve because darker or sharper would be a very different image. I quite like the effect. Quite delicate.
