one of the shots from a series I am working on titled 'a forgotten generation' Working in the shanty towns around lusaka, where so many older people have either lost their children through aids or have been abandoned. this is john. he tells me how he used to be chef to one of zambia's leading politicians and proudly recounts the feasts he would prepare. his eyes light up at the memories. now too old to work he lives with his wife in a one-room shack about 8x8ft and is utterly destitute. They rarely hear from their surviving children and would probably not still be alive were it not for a tiny project that provides basic food and medical care for them and others like them.

A very strong image. I like the low key effect and it has a great story to go with it.
