Male Bullfinch ( pyrrhula pyrrhula )
Probably the most irritating and annoying shot I have ever tried to take. This is about all I have to show for 90 minutes standing on a freezing cold windy and, at times, wet morning recently waiting for this fella.
Bullfinches are not at all common on my patch at present and I have been waiting for ages to get a glimpse of one. This one finally appeared in a thick hedgerow that was smothered in blossom. This is a typical location for the bird that loves to use its small round bill to feast on soft buds, shoots and flowers rather than hard seeds. The trouble was however that, having found its way into the 'larder' it just would not move into the open to allow me a clear shot. After dozens of 'almost' shots I finally had to settle for this one which I think managed to show most of the bird and give a good impression of the blossom he was attacking. I hope you like it and please try large if you have time.

As always many thanks for views/comments and votes on the Kestrel.

Definately worth all that standing around Ron, this is superb and has enough and the right parts in the clear and naturally framed with the Blackthorn blossom. The colours are superb as is the detail. Even got the eye detail and thats the hardest part with these, brilliant eye.

I really want to say that this is a Bootyfull shot Ron...haha

I know you have plenty of comments on this shot but it stopped me in my tracks, stunning would be an understatement, your patience is far greater than mine. If i received a Xmas card next month with this picture on it I would not be disappointed. Worthy of all the votes it has recieved cannot understand though why it never received any awards from the editor or guest editors shame on them Sad
